But I am happy to announce that production is underway again. I will be finishing up edits and releasing Episode 3, Part 2 of Who Shot Me. We have also finished shooting episode 4 and started episode 5. So there is a lot going on.
Things don't always happen the way you plan them. The last weeks of December 2015 I had planned to film and edit so much of the "Who Shot Me" series and release episodes consistently. It was going to be a very productive time, since I was on break and my kids too. But then I fell terribly ill like I had never been. I was literally dying. At least that' how it felt. It lasted almost a full month. That experience so rattled my body and brain that I was pushed out of orbit and it cost me some time and great effort to move back on track. But I am happy to announce that production is underway again. I will be finishing up edits and releasing Episode 3, Part 2 of Who Shot Me. We have also finished shooting episode 4 and started episode 5. So there is a lot going on. I want to thank all those who have kept coming back to check for updates. Thanks to our supporters, followers, and interested people. You will not be disappointed. Stay tuned.
I call episode 3 of the "Who Shot Me" series a 'short film' because I am trying to craft each episode as a free-standing production which if seen by itself could be enjoyed as is without absolutely needing to see more to understand what is going on.
That being said, the feedback on this latest episode (part 1) has been very positive. It has both inspired horror and excitement. There is a real interest in seeing more of the story unfold. And unfold it shall. With the continued participation of greatly talented actors such as Pete, Joseph and Juan, we will continue to bring the story to life. It has already garnered us support in a sense that a local film company has offered to help film the rest of the series (offering the equipment, I suppose; the details still to be worked out). In any case, stay tuned for part 2 of "Face of Death." It will be just as amazing and twisted in its dark truth as part 1. Here are two tease pics for upcoming episodes. The first is for Episode 3: "Face of Death". That is a tease of the teaser. That's right. The picture you see is from a teaser video we shot to promote the next episode which we will be filming this Saturday...
Press here to check out the pictures and continue update... I have gotten a lot of positive responses from people about our second episode. Although there is a very evident lack of "proper" equipment to film this series, nonetheless, the ideas and creativity abound. This is thanks to the great talent that surrounds me in the form of production people and the actors themselves. I am grateful to have them along on this project and to see that little by little they can actually see my vision and the course that I am charting for this project.
Important developments: 1) The "Season 1" script is finally completed. In total there will be nine (9) episodes of 6 to 10 minutes long. You will want to stick around for the coming episodes, it's going to be quite a ride. Especially the "season finale". I promise you will enjoy it all. 2) The goal of the series is to be submitted to various "festivals" or other competitions where we might be able to achieve a more substantial financial backing and distribution. 3) We will be prioritizing quality over quantity. This means that contrary to the initial plan of publishing an episode every week, now I have decided that I will focus on taking all the time I need for us to film, edit and publish an episode. The tentative production period, therefore, for each episode will be 2 to 3 weeks; depending on the complexity of the lines, the staging, and the editing. This only ensures that the final product of each episode will be of better quality all around. 4) I will be holding a casting call for highly capable actors or non-actors. The emphasis will be on the individual's personal beliefs and ambitions. We will interview and read off the script. This project has a future that will only be secured by working with the best. (No pressure, though :P ...). If you are interested in taking part in some way, either acting role or extra, please send me a private message. 5) I have started working on "Season 2" which, at the moment, will also consist of 9 episodes and is guaranteed to blow your mind. Thank you all who have taken any part in promoting or supporting this project in any way. I send you all my thanks and positive vibrations. We are onto something good here. Thank you for betting on us. Production for Part II of "Who Shot Me" or Episode II, which ever seems more appropriate, is underway. We had to push the shoot by a couple of days this week and so we will have the final product I think by this Saturday if not sooner. This time we will be graced with the participation of two actors whom I admire and esteem very much. One of these actors is Mr. Joseph Campos, with whom I worked on the play "Pat & Lyndon" for the Pharr Community Theatrer. Mr. Campos played the role of Robert McNamara. It was his experience and natural abilities on the stage that made everyone else's job easier. The second of these friends and collegues is Pete Mendoza. Pete and I recently participated in a movie by Mar Motion Media (MMM). Pete has an extensive acting career. He is an accomplished actor and movie action sequence choreographer. He's worked with several movie production companies, as well as with such illustrious outfits like the History channel. I am excited to have these two gentlemen and acting badasses join me on the screen. And now our feature presentation, so silence your phones and shut your babies up! The professions made the schools, not the other way around. Back in ancient, prehistorical times there were no schools. There was just the school of life and the lessons taught to us by our elders. Eventually people developed professions to the point that they institutionalized that knowledge in order to have a better way of transmitting the knowledge. The point? What ever it is in life you wish to achieve don't let anything stop you. Whether you have a formal education or not matters very little. The only ingredient that is the most needed in accomplishing anything is ganas; that is, the desire to do it. So if you want to build a house, take the first step in that direction and don't look back. Eventually you will have built that house. If you want to design a new computer, maybe it will take you decades but I assure you that if you devote your time and energy to that purpose you will come out victoriously showcasing your new creation. Whatever it is, just go for it. Don't think that in order to make your dreams come true you have to go to college for years and years so that you may attain a paper that says that you have the ability to do something. You already have that ability in you. We all do. Change is a slow and gradual process that requires constant action on the part of she or he who wishes to achieve it. It takes baby steps. Every time you wake up to yourself and realize that you are not satisfied with yourself, it is a moment of learning and attempting first steps toward achieving progress. What happens to our resolve that we had as itty bitty babies? That drive that moved us to excel, to learn, to grow, to be brave and take chances? What if we had not had that drive? Would we have learned to walk? Talk? Poop and handle the aftermath of it on our own? Nope, we would be big babies all our lives. Fully dependent on others to do for us what we could be doing for ourselves. But something inside us motivated us. Pushed us to exceed our limitations. To take first steps and try to walk. Rise up off our knees with confidence. And if we fell, we might have cried and sought the comfort of mom or dad. But eventually it wasn't they who motivated us back into action. It was that something we had inside us that did it. That something that compelled us to rise to our feet and learn to walk when we were toddlers, is still inside of us. Still there waiting to be used. To be put into effect. But we oftentimes become complacent and enter a comfort zone that we are all to unwilling to trade for the anxiety-producing effects of change to our routines. But if you don't do that, what will happen is that you will stay stuck in that stage in life that you were never meant to be stuck in. You will be stuck on your figurative knees crawling when you could be walking, then running, and eventually soaring! Be brave today and rise to your feet! Leave childish ways behind. If you need comfort or a friend to help you achieve your goals, come back here and leave a comment about your struggles. Or shoot me a private message. But don't just sit there and take it helplessly. Take action and transform your life today. Ha! Oh, and check this out! The McAllen Public Library is the site of the latest engagement I will participate in bringing along the last few copies of my book "The Fluid Chicano." I just got off the wire with one of the library staff who informed me under condition of anonymity that my book is one of the most checked out by the local patrons. More than Kerouac. Surpassing Walt Whitman. Killing any Shakespeare contribution. I was astounded at the news. Wow. Couldn't believe it! Never expected it. But as Miclo said (Chicano inside reference here) "When you expect nothing and you get everything...that's destiny." ;) Come out tonight and get a copy of my book personally autographed. On the cheap not cuz it's low value but because you are worth my sparing an extra profit. Thanks to all who visit this site and all the well-wishers in the world. Paz! GHS "The Fluid Chicano" P.s. I was going to wait for mid week to post this "how to" video. But then I realized that I did make evident what the day of the week it is, so it would be dated by Wednesday. So enjoy this rare update so close to the last one. Next one might take another 8 or 9 days...maybe. Or perhaps I'll still update later this week. In either case...stay tuned. Have an awesome Monday and awesome everyday!
